EBRD Supported “Export Procedures over Blockchain” Project Starts

“End-to-end Design of Export Procedures with Blockchain Technology” project, supported by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) started with a kick-off meeting with participation of Turkish Ministry of Trade as host and project owner, EBRD, and ATEZ Software Technologies as the contractor. The project is financed by Turkish Ministry of Treasury & Finance and aims to facilitate Turkey’s export procedures.

Amongst the kick-off meeting participants were; Mr. Mehmet Azgin (Deputy General Manager  – General Directorate of Exports), Mr. Hasan ONAL (Department Head – e-Export, Digital Marketing, Behavioural Public Policies & New Generation Technologies), Ms. Hatice Safak Bozkir Aydogmus (Export Development Specialist), Mr. Mehmet Uvez (Head of Ankara Office – EBRD), Ms. Gamze Kahyaoglu(Associate Banker, Policy & Government Relations), Dr Kenan Guler (Chairman – ATEZ Software Technologies), Mr. Cuneyt Sevim ( Project Team Lead – ATEZ Software Technologies), Ms. Ummugulsum Ozalp (Software Specialist – ATEZ Software Technologies), Mr. Sebahattin Kocas (Head Advisor on International Trade), Mr. Samet Ozturk, LL.M., MCIARB (Legal Advisor) and Mr. Tayfun Zaman(Trade Compliance Advisor).

The Project will be a first in the World to handle end-to-end export procedures using Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) on Proof of Concept (PoC) level with participation of all stakeholders in the process. Project aims to eliminate use of duplicate data and documents, reduce use of paper, increase visibility, integration, and collaboration between stakeholders, prevent fraudulent actions, speed up procedures with smart contract triggered action requests and provide a trusted, secure yet transparent business environment.
